Of Ekta Kapoor & K-Soap Screenplays!

Over the years, I have seen more than my fair share of Television. This includes religious following of every television fad from the “Popular-American-Show-Dubbed-in-Hindi” Phase (Small Wonder, Superhuman Samurai Cybersquad, & the like), to the “Quiz Show” Phase (BQC, KBC), to the current “Unbelievably Scripted Reality Show” Phase . However, there is one TV fad that never really caught on with me.. The Star Soap Parivaar! I guess I never really got the novelty of the thing. Lemme rephrase that. No one, other than bored housewives, really got the novelty of the thing. I mean, I can understand a ‘Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki’ here, and a ‘Kyunki…’ there, catching on TRP fire. But going by the sheer volume of these mondo-hit soaps, there is obviously something that we’re all missing here.

Having said that, just because we don’t get it, doesn’t mean we can’t profit off of it, right? Primetime Soap Operas have been going through a lull lately. So I thought we could scoot in on this market and come up with our own scripts to sell. Click below to create your own (Insert Auspicious Letter)-Serial!

Awesome!! Ekta Kapoor might want to buy this from you soon :)

  2. psst. An independent, morally upright feminist probably wouldn’t have a husband, a mother-in-law or a sister-in-law. hmm. actually, now that I think about it – an independent, morally upright feminist would be in a K serial period. :)

Thank you peoples! =D@freeflowingsalt: Hey man, we’re talking about a world where people wake up with impeccable make-up on… Where people come back from the dead… Where time and space are dimensions that are as useless as common sense or logic… Hehe, I think we can make room for an independent thinking housewife along the lines of ‘Tulsi Virani’ here.. =p

Hey dude. Big fan. Love your work.

Very witty! I did a couple of similar posts on Ekta Kapoor a couple of months back myself: http://mynethome.net/blog/2009/09/anatomy-of-an-ekta-kapoor-soap-the-sleep-matrix/ and http://mynethome.net/blog/2009/09/anatomy-of-an-ekta-kapoor-soap-the-regurgitating-plot/

Hey, can you share the maddox page that inspired this brilliant script generator?

  9. Varun says:

You are obviously a big fan of Maddox. I’ve been following him for close to 4 years now (unfortunately, he doesn’t update as often as he used to anymore) and some of the language you use gives it away. Good stuff, brother. Keep’em coming!!!

  10. Mona says:

Thanks for getting the storyline to us in a much more entertaining way. Don’t let the site die out-am sure bollywood wud give u enuf masala every year

  11. Sandhya says:

Just saw this- great work, Sahil :) Reminds me of a brilliant Roald Dahl short story ‘The Great Automatic Grammatizator’. Wonder if it also inspired you to make this.

  12. Chaitanya Vedak says:

  20. mikhail says:

A dutiful, overly religious wife, who is always dressed garishly in designer wedding wear, is shocked to find her vengeful sister-in-law plotting to kill her with someone carrying a grudge from her past. She cites the Bhagwad Gita as to the sanctity of family in life. But, Alas! In all the moral sermoning and the ensuing chaos, her husband falls over a cliff and his body is never found. He, however, comes back from the dead eventually. After a dramatic surge in TRP’s, we learn for the next 1000 episodes that it is, in fact, all about loving your family.

people never ever watch television in these TV soaps!!

  22. Newbie says:

  24. Gayatri says:

There is one list to be added to this :
If the main characters decide to leave then:
    1. Accident , plastic surgery
    2. Make the character disappear totally and bring back when convenient.
    3. End the character with death(this is the option I will choose)
